It's becoming increasingly amusing to watch the chattering class continue to struggle with the question, What's Donald Trump Really After? The problem is that the art of We assume a great many of these things, and we feel a great deal. Whenever we hear of deal making, one of the first name that pops into our head is none other than Donald Trump. Liberals believe in freedom of speech and open discussions until a conservative speaks against them. He authored the book “Trump: The Art of the Deal”. His name has become synonymous with deal making. In picking up this book, I wanted to know where this guy got his other-worldly confidence. Last I checked, Trump's "The Art of the Deal" was in the "fiction" section of the local library. In philanthropy we aspire to certainty (or as much of it we can get) and yet as counter-intuitive as it may seem, especially in the context of the Stanford Social Innovation Review, I would make the case that the art side of philanthropy, if not more important than the science side, is at least a pre-condition to achieving effectiveness and impact.
